Dr Lappin is a Consultant Nephrologist at Galway University Hospitals and the Galway Clinic, Honorary Personal Professor of Nephrology at the University of Galway and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He has established and runs mulitdisciplinary clinics in diabetic nephropathy and young and resistant hypertension. He is the Treasurer of the UEMS Renal Section and European exam lead for the European Specialty Examination in Nephrology.
Dr Lappin graduated from the RCSI in 1991. He trained in nephrology in Dublin and Manchester, and obtained a PhD in Medicine from University College Dublin in 2002
Dr Lappin has clinical research interests in diabetic nephropathy and young and resistant hypertension and has published several papers in these areas in recent years.
Dr Lappin undertook fellowship training in the Meath Hospital, Dublin, and in the North-West Deanery, based in Manchester, UK.
