Consultant interventional and structural cardiologist, with special interest in adult congenital heart disease.
Having obtained his honours medical degree from the Khyber Medical University, Pakistan and following basic medical training at the University Hospital Waterford and Letterkenny, he then received higher specialist training in cardiology in Limerick, St James hospitals. He subsequently completed two years advance subspeciality training during a fellowship in interventional and structural cardiology (the management of coronary artery, valve and congenial heart diseases) at Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and CK Hui Heart centre affiliated with University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, Canada.
Accredited in interventional cardiology at University of Alberta, Canada and by the European Society in Cardiology (ESC), by the British cardiovascular imaging society BSCE, Dr Kumar has been a speaker on multiple occasions for the same Nobel cause at ESC Amsterdam, Netherlands, Euro intervention in Paris, France and Canada cardiovascular society. He has published in international peer review journals, including Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), British interventional journal (ICR3), British medical journal heart (JMJ heart) and regularly has presented work nationally and internationally including at the European society of Cardiology, Irish society of cardiology and interventional meetings in France, Canada and USA. He has a keen interest in teaching, worked as a lecturer in Graduate entry medical school Limerick, Ireland.
Dr Rajesh Kumar did complete his accredited interventional training at Mazankowski Alberta Heart institute (MAHI) and CK hui heart centre in Edmonton, Canada. Both centres are high volume interventional and structural cardiac centre for complex coronary artery and structural heart disease with a highly academic environment. MAHI is also western Canadas largest centre of adult congenital heart disease.
