Dr. Stuart O'Flanagan is a leading expert in Sports and Exercise Medicine and serves as the Team Doctor and Head of Performance Support for the Ireland Rugby Team.
Dr O’Flanagan is the first Irish-trained Sports and Exercise Medicine Consultant and has worked at the cutting edge of high performance sport for a decade, including the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games. His specialist training is underpinned by a background as a Chartered Physiotherapist in addition to a Fellowship at Stellenbosch University and an MSc from Oxford.
Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries, he works with athletes of all levels in the management of acute and chronic injuries. By combining biomechanical assessments, training load analysis and advanced imaging techniques, he works closely with the patients’ rehabilitation therapist and conditioning coaches to guide personalized strategies to return to full function.
His expertise in muscle and tendon injuries is internationally recognized, and he frequently consults with elite teams and athletes on injury management and prevention.
Due to his commitments with the Irish Rugby Team, Dr. O’Flanagan sees a limited number of new patients on a seasonal basis. He does not offer a medicolegal consultation service.
