Dr Valerie Pollard is a full time pain specialist who works in the Hermitage Clinic, Beaumont Hospital and the Bon Secours Hospital. She is a full-time pain specialist in Beaumont Hospital where she has worked as a Consultant in Pain Medicine for the past 24 years. She has a particular interest in the management of spinal pain, myofascial pain, post herpetic neuralgia pain, pelvic pain and post-surgical pain.

Dr Pollard has over 34 publications in research including pain management, cerebral oxygenation and sepsis. She has published articles in post operative pain relief, Qutenza patches and intercostal nerve treatment. She has extensive research in cerebral oxygenation and sepsis and near infrared spectroscopy.
Dr Pollard obtained her fellowship in Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She subsequently worked as an Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology at U.T.M.B Galveston, Texas. She completed her fellowship in Pain Medicine in the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky. She received an Irish Pain Fellowship from the RCSI in 2001 and a Fellowship in Pain Medicine from RCSI in 2008. She is a full-time pain specialist in Beaumont Hospital.
