I originally completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a research MSc in the biological effect of orthopaedic wear particles. I graduated from RCSI post-graduate Medicine with 1st class honours, completing Basic and Higher Surgical Training in Ireland.
I further completed a Professional Certificate in Healthcare Management.
I developed an extensive research portfolio throughout training in Ireland and then onwards throughout my fellowships. My research interest spans clinical, organisational and teaching aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as the basic science underpinning our understanding of how the body responds to implants and wear particles.
I really enjoy teaching the upcoming trainees as part of my post in the Mater University Hospital as Associate Professor in the School of Medicine, UCD.
I have been supervisor to four successful Masters candidates.
I completed three Fellowships:
Firstly in the UK involving research focussed on cementless implants in total knee replacement.
I then completed two fellowships in New Zealand with specialist focus on training in Robotic Assisted Surgery for hip and knee replacement, as well as soft tissue knee surgery.
