Mr Joss Moore is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in knee surgery. He is highly skilled in robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, patellar surgery, and joint preservation techniques.
Whether treating elite athletes or patients with advanced arthritis, Mr. Moore offers his patients a range of treatment options informed by the latest scientific research and proven techniques in knee surgery.
Based full-time at the Galway Clinic, Mr Moore is committed to advancing knee care in the west of Ireland.
He earned his medical degree with honours from the University of Galway in 2013 and furthered his expertise by completing a Masters programme in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. He completed his orthopaedic training in Ireland and went on to further specialise in knee surgery through the prestigious Sydney Knee Specialists Fellowship in Australia. This fellowship provided him with expertise in robotic-assisted knee surgery, allowing him to offer his patients the most up-to-date and effective surgical solutions.
Before pursuing his surgical career, Mr. Moore was a dedicated athlete, representing his club (Mountbellew/Moylough) and county (Galway) at senior intercounty level in football. His personal experience with a career-ending knee injury has given him a profound understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with knee problems, further fueling his commitment to helping patients of all ages recover and improve their quality of life.
Mr Moore is committed to ensuring that the people of the west of Ireland have access to world-class knee care.
He is currently accepting new patients and works closely with general practitioners and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, personalised care.
Mr Moore was awarded both an academic and sports scholarship while he earned his medical degree with honours from the University of Galway in 2013. He furthered his expertise by completing a Masters programme in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Trinity College Dublin.
He completed the core surgical training programme with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland before completing trauma and orthopaedic training through the Higher Surgery Speciality Training programme with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Mr Moore then went on to further specialise in knee surgery through the prestigious Sydney Knee Specialists Fellowship in Sydney, Australia.
Throughout his career, Mr Moore has contributed to the scientific community by publishing many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his findings at several national and international conferences. His current main areas of research are in knee alignment and robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery.
Mr Moore underwent rigorous training in reconstructive knee surgery with the Sydney Knee Specialists knee fellowship in Australia. This fellowship is one of the most sought-after in Australia, providing specialised training in advanced knee surgery techniques. Under the mentorship of Prof Samuel MacDessi, he gained expertise in ACL reconstruction, peri-articular osteotomies, and partial/total knee replacements using conventional and robotic techniques.
