Prof. Eoin Sheehan is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist focus on hip, knee, and trauma surgery. He is affiliated with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the University of Limerick.
His special interest is in Hip and Knee replacements as well as newer technologies and techniques in these procedures. He has an interest in infected cases as well as revision (repeat procedures) in hips and knees. He also provides a trauma service for injured patients as part of the team.
Professor Sheehan is a graduate of UCC with higher degrees conferred by UCD and RCSI. He did an international fellowship at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia and trained on the Irish Higher Training Programme.
He is a senior reviewer for many international based journals including the Bone and Joint Journal, Journal of Arthroplasty, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Journal of Orthopaedic Research, Injury and others.
He is an adjunct Clinical Professor through the University of Limerick and is a medical educator to under graduate as well as postgraduate surgeons. He has mentored several higher degree doctorates and continues to publish and present on a variety of topics.

He has occupied national and international roles as Clinical Director, National Clinical Care Programme Advisor, National Training Programme Director, International Surgical Fellowship Clinical Advisor. He advises international organisations such as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the International Consensus Infection Metting as well as the World Expert Group on Arthroplasty.
