Professor Ferga Gleeson is a Gastroenterologist with national and international qualifications, and with experience in Ireland and the United States. She graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons with honours in 1995 and completed her specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine in Ireland.
She subsequently obtained an international fellowship in advanced endoscopy/ endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) followed by a fellowship in medical pancreatology at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, USA). She holds subspecialty expertise in endoscopic precision oncology with EUS, and in benign, premalignant and malignant diseases of the pancreas. In 2017, she was appointed a Full Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic based on her contribution to clinical gastroenterology undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and business administration programmes.
