Prof Niall Pender is currently Head of Dept of Psychology and Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist at Beaumont Hospital and Associate Professor in Neuropsychology in Academic Neurology, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. He is also Course Director for the MSc in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology at Trinity College. Prior to this he was Consultant Neuropsychologist at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, London. He is co-Director of the Neuropsychology Clinic at Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic where he holds a weekly neuropsychology clinic.
Prof. Pender completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at UCD in 1991. He subsequently completed an MSc in Clinical & Experimental Neuropsychology at the University of Wales. He completed his clinical psychology training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London/Maudsley Hospital where he also completed his PhD in Neuropsychology and post-qualification diploma in clinical neuropsychology.
Prof Pender is an active clinical researcher. He is an Associate Professor in Neuropsychology in the School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin and an honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Dept of Psychology, at the RCSI. His research focuses on the cognitive, behavioural and emotional aspects of acquired brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases. He is the lead on numerous large research grants and is the author of over 130 scientific papers.
Prof Pender Pender completed his training in the South London and Maudlsey NHS trust and subsequently at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, London.
