Professor Nicola Ralph is a Consultant Dermatologist on the Specialist Register for Dermatology in Ireland. She is an honours graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. She commenced her training in Dermatology in the Mater Misericordiae University hospital where she developed a special interest in photodermatology. This led to undertaking of an MD, as principal investigator of a large European Multicentre study on photopatch testing. She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at the Mater Misericordiae University hospital in 2014 - 2019 and now works as a Consultant Dermatologist at Blackrock Private Clinic and the Institute of Dermatologists, Ballsbridge which she co-founded in 2019. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at University College Dublin.

She has an interest in inflammatory dermatology (psoriasis, acne, atopic dermatitis), photodermatology, and skin cancer including dermatological surgery. Prof Ralph ran the National Photobiology Unit at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital from 2014-2019, which is the only unit in the country who can perform phototesting on patients with potential Ultraviolet related dermatoses. She has published book chapters on photodermatology and numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. She undertook a very large study as principal investigator of a large European Multicentre study on photopatch testing since 2015 combined with an MD.
